About Steve and Kathy:
Hi all! We’re Steve and Kathy, and our story of why we do this is pretty simple. Steve and I are die hard fans of good design, gorgeous gardens and pretty details. So here we are juggling three websites together, sharing the best of the DIY and decorating world that we can, and trying to get a few projects of our own out there from time to time!
I (Kathy!) actually started my first decorating newsletter, The Budget Decorator, back in 1997. Yep, I just dated myself. Since then, I have gone through much to morph that into three websites – The Budget Decorator, Decorating Your Small Space and The Garden Glove. I was a freelance writer for some major magazines, published a decorating book, and then over time, my websites got dated, tired, and a little sad, and so did I!
Along came Steve. After dating for a few years and getting engaged, we decided we would go against the odds, and some well intentioned advice, and willingly work together! This was my second lucky break. (The first was getting lucky enough to get engaged to this guy, if you didn’t pick up on that!) With Steve’s eye for detail, work ethic, and a happier work “me”, we brought all three web sites back up to date, created a better platform for all of you to find and learn new decorating techniques and ideas, and have had some really amazing experiences through our blogs!
We love our work and our readers and are proud of our success! We work hard for it! We still juggle our lives like all of you… life is busy with my two teenagers Rachel and Zack, planning our wedding, and what to make for dinner right alongside which paint color to use for the master bedroom reveal, or which is our favorite garden blogger to feature next issue… but it works for us. We hope it does for you too!
