A Kid’s Kingdom
When designing a child’s bedroom there are important ideas to keep in mind. You want every room to have the same common themes: durability, storage and customization. How do you accomplish all these? The furniture you select has a huge impact. Kids need all three elements in the room to ensure that they can make the most of their Kingdom.
Storage:
Under the bed has been an adopted as the universal storage spot for any kid’s room. An easy way to work around this unfortunate fact is with the style of bed that you select. Platform beds are the perfect solution to the overcrowding that can occur under beds. Some platform beds have a solid base which prevents storage under the beds; this could stop clutter under the bed. However it also takes away from valuable storage area. A better choice is platform beds that have storage drawers in the base. Platform beds like this are available in a lot of different size options and colors, and most of the supply enough storage to save some extra room in the closet.
Durability:
We have all seen what kids can do to their rooms. With no malice intent, the most well mannered child can easily tear apart a well designed room in hours. A simple way to defeat this undeniable truth is to fortify your child’s bedroom with a durable decor. Instead of a standard book shelve in your children room try to use a rolling cart with dividing tubs. These tubs are removable and the cart its self can be moved around the room to make it easy for your kids to push around without knocking it over. These types of durable items are perfect for your rowdy youngster’s rooms.
Customization:
Give a child the opportunity and they will customize anything, including your walls with a crayon. This natural occurrence can be avoided by having a lot of you children’s items customized before use. Most bed sets and pillows give the options for customization; however creative designers can take this customization a step further. The walls of your kid’s room are a perfect place to display your child’s individuality. A current trend is to have a mural painter come in and customize the walls of your child’s room, this can be quite expensive. An easy replacement is to simply take time to create your own wall hangings that are specific to your child’s personality. Putting these wall decorations together can prove to be an exciting weekend project that the whole family can participate in as well.
These tips should help out as you choose to redesign your kid’s room. Just remember it’s their kingdom you just design it.
