We all love the magical nature of a snow globe! It doesn’t matter if you are 4 or 94, no one can resist the idea of the little bit of winter fantasy contained within. Have you ever passed by a snow globe and not picked it up, given it a shake and peeked into the world it created? When you DIY snow globe projects, it allows you to create a personalized scene of whatever gives you peace or joy. Covered with snow, of course. ;) Which makes everything seem a little bit more cozy, homey, and dreamy. And who doesn’t need a moment to escape to that?
The first thing you need to know about DIY snow globe projects (besides the fact that they are easy!) is that they can be made both with a liquid inside, and waterless. In fact, you can make them any way you like, as long as there is snow! So whether you want the more traditional “floating snow”, or you want a more static scene in a waterless snow globe, we have tutorials for all kinds! So let’s learn how to make a snow globe!
DIY Snow Globes
This DIY snow globe tutorial from ‘The 36th Ave‘ is the best of both worlds… It looks like liquid, but is actually made with a bubble cup from Target for less than $5! Remember, snow globes aren’t just for Christmas!
This glittery jar snow globe from ‘Hey, Lets Make Stuff‘ has a couple of great things going for it… First, I love using the mug so little ones have a good handle to grab on to! The second part is her secret, but if you read her post you will find out how to get that glitter to float softly and gently to the bottom like real snow!
‘No Biggie‘ used these clear old fashioned string light bulbs to make mini homemade snow globe ornaments, and they are such amazing miniature worlds! You could string these together and make a garland as well.
‘Melodrama‘ used an empty tequila bottle to create this totally one of a kind Patron bottle DIY snow globe. We love things that are a little bit different, and the bottle itself makes this project look high end. Easy project, and good tutorial with lots of photos. You might want help on emptying the tequila bottle first though. Thats a pretty big job. :)
The ‘Liz Marie Blog‘ created these DIY snow globe jars for some kitchen holiday fun, and they look so dreamy! Loving on the retro cars in the snow! These jars are waterless, but no less fanciful than other kinds of snow globes.
‘Little House of Four‘ turned this thrift store cloche into a vintage DIY snow globe that makes me want to go back to my childhood! Another great example of a waterless snow globe. (LOVE the tree in the back of the truck! It’s those details that make the “story”).
While we are on a vintage car roll here, lets fall in love with this car in a jar snow globe from ‘Mason Jar Crafts Love‘. Like, seriously? Got a warm and fuzzy, “let’s go cut down a tree” feeling yet? ;)
This snow globe wreath from ‘Create, Craft, Love‘ is a little bit of a different take than the others so far. What a fun way to bring some childhood memories to your guests right at the front door! Step by step tutorial.
This homemade snow globe is from ‘BHG‘. Filled with water and glycerin, they used a flower aquarium found at floral shops to create their globe. Can you imagine all the fun scenes you could create? Simple directions.
This mason jar DIY snow globe from ‘Classy Clutter‘ doesn’t require any messy liquid or even glitter!
Another non traditional take on the snow globe is this fish bowl snowman from ‘Smart School House‘. Easy and inexpensive too, you can get these bowls at the dollar store!
From Ashley Ann at ‘Under the Sycamore‘, learn how to make a snow globe using vintage mason jars and inexpensive supplies from Hobby Lobby. Love these jars, the blue gives them a “frozen winter’ look.
These family portrait homemade snow globes from ‘A Kailo Chic Life‘ are so fun and unique. You have to go check out how this is done! This would make a great grandparents gift too.
‘The Girl Inspired‘ created quite the mini snow scene in this gumball machine snow globe! This is really creative, and yet, why not?
Last we have this mason jar DIY snow globe from ‘The Crafted Sparrow‘. What would be more natural for a snow globe scene than a snow man!

WOW!!! Just so adorable each of them thank you for sharing
I feel like I need to go to Hobby Lobby now. My favorite is the old red truck. Thank you so much for putting all these together for our inspiration.
I know, right? These have so inspired us, I am definitely going to make one this season too… but which idea? Thx for the comment Diane & Dean!
